FRIDAY, APRIL 17

10:30am, Chicago Cultural Center, Garland Room, 1st Floor South

Emerging Camera Technologies will feature representatives from Chicago’s top camera rental houses in a discussion of the latest high end camera models, their advantages, disadvantages, and the best applications for each model.  Panelist will include: Megan Donnelly of Abel Cine, Jonah Rubash of Magnanimous Media; and Collette Gabriel and Rick Allen of Keslow Camera.  Moderator: John Otterbacher.

Web Series Production: From Internet to Network - Local web series creators discuss how they’ve managed to cultivate large audiences for their web series and how traditional and cable networks have started to take notice.  Topics will included crowdfunding, audience-building through social media, and new models for production, financing, and distribution that can applied to producing original series for the web. Panelists will include Julie Keck and Jessica King from KING IS A FINK PRODUCTIONS; Matt Abrahmson, executive producer of TEACHERS; and Jason Mojica from VICE.com  Moderator: Paul Fleschner

Film 101: Introduction to the Chicago Film Industry will feature professionals from across the film industry who will give the inside scoop on breaking in to the business, the diverse paths that led them there, and how you too could have the best job in the world.  Panelists will include: Kwame Amokau  (“Chicago Fire” Directors Guild of America, Location Manager, Assistant Director, Actor); Jorge Reyes Ortiz (Best Boy on “Empire”); Megan Spatz (Costume Designer on “Unexpected”); Adri Siriwatt (Production Designer on “23 Blast”), and celebrity make-up and hair designer Zee Gustafson. Moderator: Carrie Holt de Lama.

Up from the Underground will feature five alumni filmmakers from the Chicago Underground Film Festival who have gone on to wider recognition for their bodies of work. Panelists include: Jennifer Reader, Jerzi Rose, Lori Felker, Bill Seigel, and Deborah Stratman.  Moderator: Ignaity Vishnivetsky
