IFP Chicago is all about empowering Midwestern filmmakers to be entrepreneurs and create sustainable careers, which is why we've teamed up with our friends at Full Spectrum Features to present New Thinking for Navigating Today's Distribution Landscape with Filmmaker Patrick WangPatrick's most recent work The Grief of Others premiered at SXSW and garnered critical acclaim around the globe. His film In The Family was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award  for Best First Feature.

This special workshop explores a wide range of new and current strategies for filmmakers who are seeking to take a more active role in the distribution of their work. New possibilities in distribution do not just come from new technology, but also from new thinking. Drawing upon his background in economics as well as filmmaking, Wang has chosen unusual paths to successfully find an audience for his films, sometimes working alone as well as working with a range of partners in different countries. Wang will discuss his diverse experiences as well as ideas for distribution yet to be tried.
