Box Office Manager

The CUFF Box Office Manager (BOM) is responsible for successfully coordinating, executing and wrapping the pass/ticket and box office equipment, personnel and financial logistics of the festival Box Office from pre-festival planning to the festival’s conclusion.

Evening and weekend hours required. The BOM is a seasonal, but full-time position during the festival, scheduled to begin May 1, 2017 and end June 15, 2017. The BOM reports to CUFF’s Artistic Director and IFP Chicago’s Assistant Director and Executive Director.

The BOM coordinates all pass and ticket sales and is responsible for managing the festival’s Universe ticketing system. The BOM maintains the accuracy and excellence in all pass/ticket sales, organization, distribution and tracking, and is responsible for creating and managing sales metrics and pass/ticket tracking/inventory and balancing sales reports in spreadsheets on CUFF’s Box Office Google Drive.

The BOM is responsible, along with the Volunteer Coordinator, for recruiting, training, scheduling and managing all Box Office volunteers. The BOM will train all Box Office volunteers on CUFF’s Universe ticketing system and all Box Office volunteer responsibilities and expectations while working with our partners at The Logan Theatre.

The BOM will prepare a festival wrap report and will coordinate a post-festival exit interview with CUFF’s Artistic Director and IFP Chicago’s Assistant Director.

This position requires excellence in cash handling, and unparalleled organizational and customer service skills

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Ticketing/Pass

  • Enter advance ticket information into Universe online ticketing system after festival schedule is finalized and troubleshoot any problems with the system

  • Train and supervise box office volunteers on ticketing software and procedures

  • Sell tickets at Logan Theatre box office during festival week (May 31-June 4 2017), check in ticket and pass holders, and handle cash transactions

  • Coordinate ticket sales and ticket availability with House Manager, Hospitality Manager and The Logan Theatre

Finances

  • Manage cash and accurately reconcile end-of-day balances

  • Reconcile cash nightly at close of shift with Assistant Director

  • Download weekly sales reports from Universe and share them with Artistic Director, Assistant Director and Executive Director

Personnel

  • Recruit, train, schedule and manage all Box Office volunteers

  • Provide excellent customer service to all Chicago Underground Film Festival patrons

  • Answer customer questions and provide knowledgeable film recommendations to customers
